Minutes from October 2024 BOS meeting were approved.

Council of Ministries Working Team Report –Donna Galloway

• Support for Skylands Helene relief efforts has been outstanding with lots of volunteer support.  Financial support has poured in and many families from Skyland and surrounding communities have received support.  Skyland’s relief effort is ongoing. 
• Bridges has received grants to fund a Literacy Enrichment Program Director (Bridges 2.0).  The Board will have follow up meetings and discussions.    

Finance Working Team Report – Jack Harrison

• Jack reviewed the financial report.
• Commitment Sunday is November 24th.  
• Finance working team is working on the 2025 budget.
• Motion was made to update the fundraiser request form to reflect associated expenses with a request.  The motion passed.  

SPRC Working Team Report- Erin Brady

• SPRC is searching for church organist candidates.  
• SPRC working team is working on the church profile and will follow up at December BOS meeting.

Trustees Working Team Report – Bob Blanke

• Bob Reviewed trustee’s budget.
• The Church bus is in the repair shop.
• Now have four members on the facilities maintenance team. Team will have an organizational meeting after Thanksgiving.

Pastors Report 

• 2025: Board will move from opening devotion to speaking about a passage from the book “In the Name of Jesus:  Reflections on Christian Leadership”.  Each BOS member will receive a copy.
• Motion: Move all church Leadership Position Groups’ calendar to January 1st through December 31st  in 2026.  Motion passed.   2025 calendar will run February through December 31st.

Other Items

• BOS Change Request Policy update was reviewed and approved.   
• Approved fundraising request from Joe to collect Thanksgiving  food donations for 10 families. 
• One service on Sunday will continue through December 31st.     
• Ended Board of Stewards meeting and moved to Charge Conference.  

Charge Conference

• Motion was made to approve 2025 pastors’ compensation package.  Motion passed.
• Motion was made to approve Endowment Policy updates.  Motion passed.
• Motion was made to approve Skyland Guiding Principles updates.  Motion passed.
• Motion to accept 2025 leadership nominations list while the nominating committee  continues to complete the list. The BOS will approve at the January 2025 BOS meeting and the list will be effective February 1, 2025.  Motion passed.
