Our programs and activities are designed for your children (ages birth – 6th grade) to get to know and LOVE God, GROW in their Christian faith, and learn that it is important to SERVE others.
Be In the Know!
Nursery Care (ages birth—4 years)

Children’s Church (ages 4 years–2nd grade)
Here at Skyland, we value the experience of worshipping as a family. Children get to learn from watching their parents and church family and by participating in their own way! Our ministry format allows for children to share this experience with their family and attend a program that is specifically designed for them.
Children attend the first half of worship service with their family. After the Children’s Sermon of the service, they are dismissed to Children’s Church (in the Children’s Wing) for a time of learning and fun activities with their peers. Children’s Church runs every Sunday year-round, except for the 1st Sunday of every month when children will remain in services in order to experience Communion with their families.
Sundays, 9:25 a.m. & 10:55 a.m., except 1st Sunday of the Month
Location: Children’s Wing
Before Service, at the Children’s Ministry Table in the main entry way

Bible Exploration Class (ages 3rd–5th grade)
Come join us for a time of fellowship, games, and Bible exploration using our new Bibles, Deep Blue Sea! We’ll dive deep into God’s word with this engaging, interactive Bible using the Common English Bible translation. The Bibles have illustrations throughout with a wealth of notes, devotionals, Bible trivia, and other interactive elements.

Confirmation Class (6th graders*)
*If your child is older than 6th grade and missed the class, he/she is also welcome to attend.
This class is designed to prepare youth for church membership. We explore our faith at a deeper level as we discuss topics such as who God is, why we have the church, ways to draw closer to God and what it means to be a United Methodist. Because the class topics build on itself, those interested need to commit to the class by September of each year. Confirmands are given the opportunity to join the church at the culmination of this class in May.
Sundays, 5:00–6:00 p.m., September–May
Rev. Joy Moss, Associate Pastor

Safety and Security
All of our Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers have been background checked as part of our Safe Sanctuary Policy. In addition, staff are CPR and First Aid certified.
In the Nursery, we utilize a paging system. This serves two purposes: 1) to notify you if an issue arises and 2) to ensure that only a parent/guardian or designated person picks up your child from the nursery. When signing in your child to the Infant or Young Child Nursery, you will receive a numbered pager. Please indicate the number of your pager on the sign-in sheet by your child’s name. When picking up your child, please return the pager with the corresponding number on the sign-in sheet. For the safety of your child, we cannot release him/her from the nursery without the pager.
It Takes a Village!
All of our Children’s Ministry programs, classes and activities are made possible by amazingly gifted, dedicated and caring volunteers. From our Children’s Church group leaders, to our VBS decorators, we value the important impact that ALL of our volunteers play in supporting our youngest members in their journeys with Christ. If you are interested in serving in Children’s Ministry, we would LOVE to have you! Please contact Associate Pastor Joy Moss at email@example.com. A background check and Safe Sanctuary training session is required.
