We consider the arts vital in expressing our worship and connecting with God as followers of Jesus! Check out the variety of ways you and your family can use the creative gifts God has given you!
Handbells and Hand Chimes:
Rehearsing each week through the school year and participating in worship several times each semester, our bell and chime program is educational, challenging, and fun. Rehearsals are in the sanctuary.
6:30-7:30 p.m. Skyland Ringers: 9th – 12th grade & adults
7:30-8:30 p.m. Joy Bells: 6th – 8th grade & adults
6:00-7:30 p.m. Sing & Ring: K-2nd, 3rd-6th grade
For children age Kindergarten through 6th grade, we meet weekly through the school year and sing for both the 9:25 and the 10:55 services on an alternating schedule. Our focus is to experience our amazing and loving God through song, rhythm, dance, instruments and community.
6:00-7:30 p.m. Sing & Ring: K-2nd grade, 3rd-6th grade
For teenagers through adults, we rehearse each week and sing consistently at the 10:55 worship service. Understanding that seekers and followers of God are a melting pot of tastes and backgrounds, we explore a wide range of repertoire including classics by the masters, timeless spirituals, contemporary anthems, traditional hymn arrangements and seasonal extended works with instrumental ensembles. Rehearsals are in the sanctuary and newcomers are always welcome!
7:30-9:00 p.m. Chancel Choir: Adults
Piano, guitar, percussion, strings, woodwinds, brass – if you enjoy playing, we probably have an opportunity for you to share your gifts and talents. Playing for our 8:25 a.m. prayer service, joining a choir anthem, sharing a prelude or offertory, joining the Moravian Band on Christmas Eve, adding your abilities to the Praise Band Team – all these ministries await. From professional to amateur, and everything in between, Lance and Linda are willing to assist you in finding your niche in the music ministry at Skyland!
Contemporary Worship Ministry:
It is our goal, with God’s help, to create an environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can connect with God and experience His presence and power through the arts. This can be through contemporary worship music, classic hymns, popular music, visual arts, multi-media presentations, drama, dance, anything that leads people to connect with God. Instrumentalists, Vocalists, Sound/Media Presentation Operators, and other creative minds are welcome. The worship team currently rehearses on Wednesday Nights @ 7:30. Contact Lance Craig for more details.
Visual Arts Team:
Share your gift of creativity by dreaming, designing and doing visual displays to enhance our worship series.
Youth Contemporary Worship Team:
Youth Musicians, 6th grade and up, are invited to come to come grow in their skill on their instrument, learn how to play with a band, and learn what it takes to lead our congregation into worship. Rehearsal is Wednesday Nights @ 6:30.
